More dottiness

The FDA have found that for a certain range of T-Spot results (ie 5, 6 or 7 dots) the result is equivocal

Having two significations equally applicable; capable of double interpretation; of doubtful meaning; ambiguous; uncertain; as, equivocal words; an equivocal sentence

Therefore a T-spot TB result can be Yes, No or both Yes and No.

Quantiferon is either a simple Yes or No, an indeterminate is a low response to the mitogen stimulated control indicating a procedural problem or lowered immune system.

With T-Spot TB the ambiguous results are not in the control but within the actual test itself, the conclusion from the quantity of effector T cells responding to ESAT- 6 and CFP10 antigens is not clearly defined.
