Prolific blogger and mother of four
OmomK talks about her
volunteer work (subbing)
One of the trips was to fill out paperwork to get on the sub list for one of the school districts. Yay! I should be processed shortly.
However, they needed me to take a TB test (even though I had one in August from my primary care physician and it was negative), which was read today. It came back positive.
As soon as she heard the result she knew that it was a dud
Now I know I don’t have TB and it was a false positive; nonetheless I will be having a chest x-ray tomorrow.
How does she
know its a false positive?
Because honestly, I cannot imagine where I would have been exposed to TB. I mean I don’t even travel to the bad parts of San Diego—let alone developing countries that would put me at risk of contracting TB
So there is a bit of R&D
I’m reading up about false-positives and all other manner of TB info.
a
lot of R&D
At least I’ll have plenty of time to look into this matter this weekend—Mr. Fix-it is away on business, which means I have three whole days at home alone.
and the
result of all this activity...
I went to the doctor on Monday and took a blood test (Quantiferon!) to confirm my diagnosis of latent tuberculosis—or LTB1 as those of us in the know call it.
Posting about your positive TB test on your blog is a great way to get tons of info from people that really know what they’re talking about—and if they don’t, their nurse moms do! Thanks everybody!
If you have a really good doctor she won’t mock you for your CDC and Mayo Clinic printouts from the internet with the pertinent portions highlighted.
