QuantiFERON and prisons

Oregon Department of Human Services have ruled that correctional institutions are to risk assess for TB and if necessary test for TB, either TST or QFT, via Oregon Administrative Rules (OARS) 333-019-0041.

 The ruling applies to inmates and employees of "non-minimal" and "minimal" is defined as

• No cases of infectious TB occurred within the facility during past year
• Facility does not house substantial numbers of inmates with risk factors for TB (HIV, homeless, IVDU)
• Facility does not house substantial numbers of new immigrants

I wouldn't think that there would be too many "minimal" facilities out there.

Adverse publicity is exactly that, adverse and legal action is not a good use of taxpayer's money

 

They are taking TB seriously
